Grand Teton is a developing series that iterates on the tallest peak in the iconic Wyoming mountain range. It grew out of camping under the peak, returning home, and then - quite unexpectedly - wanting to paint the tremendous range in a cropped, decontextualized, serial manner. It’s inspired by pop artists, and especially Warhol’s media and consumer icon works – as well as ongoing questions about the social, ecological, and economic significance of landscape icons, and the filters through which we see and are shaped by them.
